Selfportrait auto 3d gen. by hipe-0 Selfportrait auto 3d gen. by hipe-0
Hi, this is actually a self portrait.

The modelling was made fully automatically using 2 pictures from 2 view points and that 3d extraction software I'm working on. It automatically 'sculpted' the face using photo feature recognition and parallax computation.

Background in model is also present but it is not significant. It could be cut from view using an alpha mask drawn in Photoshop.

- Model has 88740 quads, imported in Blender
- 2 ray lights setup using soft mode and 8 samples with blender,
- some emit value to avoid dark areas
- floor has some alpha blended radial gradient too
- 1'13'' render time

Nice. :) I don't know if it would make a difference or not, but if you light the face so that there is not shadowing. Would you then get better results?.. Ie. put 2 lights on both sides of the face. I would perhaps give a better texture to work from?

To be honest, this model has no bump map and no specular map, it's really missing it makes the face untextured, flat and too shiny.
I can create those maps and use light as you say, that's an idea. I'll try to improve that, thanks !

Other area of improvement I can see:
Some people use SSS for semi translucent areas like nose, cheeks and ears.
